Ulcers - Symptoms and Natural Treatment

Normally, the walls of digestive system tract are protected by a layer of mucus. This Mucus functions to prevent direct contact between the gastric acid with the digestive tract wall. Gastric acid itself function to break down food. If the mucous membranes in the walls of the digestive system become thin, it will encourage symptoms of ulcer. This happens because the direct contact between the wall digestive tract with gastric acid.

Ulcer disease can be characterized with various symptoms including:
  • Acute pain at the upper abdomen immediately after eating
  • Nausea and vomiting and sometimes accompanied by blood
  • Bloody stool

To reduce the symptoms of ulcer, patients are advised to avoid spicy foods, hot and sour. Also avoid smoking, and coffee. Eat regularly becomes important things to do. This is to keep stomach acid remains normal.

Herbal medicines can also be an alternative choice to relieve ulcer. These herbals include ingredients such as lemon balm, celery juice, coriander, chamomile and marshmallow.
